Holden Torana TT36

The Holden Torana is a car which was produced by General Motors–Holdens (GM-H), the Australian subsidiary of General Motors (GM) from 1967 to 1980. The name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "to fly". The first Torana (HB series) appeared in 1967 and was a four cylinder compact vehicle that had its origins in the British Vauxhall Vivas of the mid 1960s. Whilst 1969-73 (LC and LJ) models included more popular, longer wheel base six cylinder versions; and 1974-77 (LH and LX) eight cylinder versions the four-cylinder versions continued for the entire production life of the Torana and were known as the Holden Sunbird from 1976.



In 2004, Holden released a sporty five-door concept car called the Torana TT36 (TT = Twin Turbo; 36 = 3.6 litre V6). The model was said to debut a new platform for General Motors and previews the look of the 2006 VE Commodore. In terms of size, it was marginally bigger than the BMW 3 Series on the outside, though considerably roomier inside with BMW 5 Series rivaling interior space. The TT36 was painted in Magenta and has a clear roof. The prototype visited the National Motor Museum at Birdwood in the Adelaide Hills in early 2008.

Equal But Not Quite

Dear friends,

The quotation "All men are created equal" has been called an "immortal declaration", and "perhaps [the] single phrase" and popularized as "theory of prediction" of the United States Revolutionary period with the greatest "continuing importance". Thomas Jefferson first used the phrase in the Declaration of Independence. It was thereafter quoted or incorporated into speeches by a wide array of substantial figures in American political and social life in the United States. The final form of the phrase was stylized by Benjamin Franklin.

In 1776 the Second Continental Congress asked Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman to write the Declaration of Independence. The five men voted to have Thomas Jefferson write the document. After Jefferson finished he gave the document to Franklin to proof. Franklin suggested minor changes, but one of them stands out far more than the others. Jefferson had written, "We hold these truths to be sacred and un-deniable..." Now take a look to the above GIF of lovely, adorable and down-to-Earth Jennifer Lawrence and let me know if you feel the same as she does. Sometimes I do... sometimes I loose faith in humanity and wonder if truly we are all created equal. If we are all created equal then how come some people are richer than other, how come some people are smarter than others, how come some people are more friendly than others, and the list can go on... Can we truly say we all are equal or are we not quite? Should we all say that we are all equal but not the same? Would that be more correct? We know from the Bible that we were created after the imagine of God, so how awesome are we?! Do you imagine the potential lurking in each and everyone of us? We are capable of great things if we would just believe in it! :)
But when you sit and look at the news, in the newspapers or if you open up the TV, you bump into horrific thing: people killing other people, people killing animals just for fun, plane crashes, car crashes, train wrecks and people who rule countries but care not of the people they rule, man fighting against man, mothers letting go of their babies or even not letting them live... People tend to be more and more self centered. Why marry? Why have a family? Why give birth to children? They would only ruin my career or drag me down... It is true, deep in my heart I know that some people are just not meant for family and for having children... but on the other hand I think that if they would give it a shot they would change... Who knows?! Maybe in a paralel universe they even have children ;)

When you come to think of it, not even our brains are the same. True, the fundamentals are the same: everyone was 2 lobes and one is for the creative part and one for the analytical, but some have one of the parts more evolved than the other. Not to mention that recent statistics found striking differences in the neural wiring of men and women that’s lending credence to some commonly-held beliefs about their behavior.

I guess what I am trying to say here that the base is always the same. Our bodies work in the same way, have the same functions yet what we do with what God has given us it is entirely up to our choice with a combination of luck... considering that you would be born in a rich VS. poor family / Europe VS. America and so on... The thing about human beings is that we are rational and we are constantly learning and I can say about myself that travelling has broadened my mind and my ideeas about life. Once you start to travel and meet new people and see/experience the different cultures you will no longer make a difference between the religions / color of skin / number of digits of the bank account... You will be all the same, people wanting to learn more and develop yourself.

I am proud to say I am an expat and that I am a Romanian girl married to a Polish lad, with friends that are black / white / yellow / gay / straight / bisexual / religious / atheist and so on. I am proud I met them and I am proud I heard their stories with an open eye and an open heart. It is everyones choice who they are and what they are like and even though you may have opinions of your own of what is wrong or right I believe that each person knows what is best for themselves. We are all equal but not the same :)

Volvo to develop a supertruck



Under a SuperTruck contract established with the U.S. Department of Energy, Volvo Technology of America, Inc. is scheduled to receive $19m (£11.5m) in federal funding to be used by the Volvo Group’s North American truck-related operations to improve the freight-moving efficiency of heavy-duty trucks and reduce greenhouse gases.



A team of highly skilled researchers and engineers in Greensboro, North Carolina and Hagerstown, Maryland will spend the next five years developing high-efficiency heavy-duty truck technologies aimed at moving more freight with less fuel, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Improved truck aerodynamics and energy conversion efficiency – maximizing the output potential of the energy source – are two areas that hold great promise for Class 8 efficiency gains.







In achieving the SuperTruck program goals, Volvo will draw on established leadership and extensive experience in energy efficiency and reducing heavy-duty truck and engine diesel use. Volvo’s North American truck and powertrain operations have been participating in other DOE- funded heavy vehicle fuel efficiency efforts as well. Being an integrated manufacturer also improves the efficacy of product development and allows Volvo to optimize solutions across product platforms.



“We are delighted to receive this SuperTruck award that builds upon an already strong relationship with the U.S. Department of Energy,” said Ron Huibers, Volvo Trucks senior vice president, sales and marketing. “Freight transportation plays a vital role in our daily lives and the strength of our nation, so it’s essential that we step up our efforts to create the best, most efficient heavy-duty truck solutions possible. This public-private partnership is an important step forward as we continue to expand our technology leadership.”



“We appreciate the Department of Energy’s recognition of Volvo as a global technology leader,” said Peter Karlsten, Volvo Powertrain president, and senior vice president of technology for the Volvo Group. “Our partnership will help drive the development of technologies needed to maximize energy efficiency as we address the reality of a finite supply of petroleum-based resources.”

650 Years Of Knowledge

Dear friends,

Lasy Saturday, as I was walking to the Muzeum Narodowe, I passed by the AGH University & Biblioteka Jagiellonska. I shall now tell you an urban legend regarding the statues that you can see below. They are there ever since the building was built and there is a saying that they would move when a girl would pass the exams at this University without cheating... now I do believe this already happened but I did not see the statues move so I also think that either the statues or the persons who made up this legend were very misoginistic! Fo shame!
Right in front of the Biblioteka Jagiellonska the blogs mascot - the Ladybug - and her friend - the Friendly Moose - found this. Jagiellonian University is the oldest university in Poland and one of the oldest in Europe. It boasts a centuries-old tradition, but goes with the times. The motto, "Plus ratio quam vis" means "Reason (means) more than force".
Since 1817, the university used the name of the Jagiellonian University, in honour of the Jagiellonian dynasty. Previous names include the University of Kraków, Kraków Academy, The Main Crown School, and Main School of Kraków.
The list of prominent people who have studied at the Jagiellonian University is impressively long. It includes the names such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Karol Wojtyła (Pope John Paul the 2nd), Jan Długosz, Jan Kochanowski, Marcin Kromer, Mikolaj Rej, Jan III Sobieski, Bronisław Malinowski, Norman Davies.
The history of the university goes back to 1364 when, after many years of efforts for permission of the Pope, King Casimir III the Great founded an institution called Studium Generale. Modelled on the University of Bologna, it was the second - after the university in Prague - institution of this type in Central Europe.

Second World War was a dramatic period in the history of the university. In 1939, the Nazis, under the pretext of the lecture, gathered professors at the Collegium Novum, and then arrested them and sent to a concentration camp. The university was closed, and its equipment was destroyed, dismantled or transported to Germany. Soon, the underground university began to operate. Secret courses were attended by about 800 students.

Black White

Recently Ive been drawn to pictures that use black and white filters or have been taken with a manual film camera. Pictures like this are always classic and are easy to take when using the right lighting and technique. "If you want to accentuate shape, texture, shadow, and light in a subject, you can convert your image to black and white". (Holmberg 80) Using this tip I was able to take some great pictures of my pets that I have. Making sure that the lighting was good, and that the background would contrast with my subject.




Taking pictures of animals is harder than most subjects because of the way that they move. Capturing them at the right moment takes patience and time. I made sure that the background of my images didnt take away from my main subject, what this did was create more of a contrast between the two. The subject is more sculpted and you can focus on it, which draws the eye easier than most pictures. (Holmberg 80) A great advantage to using your phone as your camera is having easy access to it when capturing moving images.








Experimenting with light is another key to having great black and white photos. Depending on what time of day, or where youre taking your picture, the lighting of it could make or break your image. "...you can experiment with light without regard to colors" (Holmberg 80) Creating a picture, you tend to look for color and brightness, but with black and white, the possibility is endless when it comes to subject matter.

Where To Have A Break In Warsaw

Dear sugar plums,

Yesterday I started telling you about our short trip to Warsaw and I promised today I would show you the places where we went for a short break. Now I have to admit that we are newbies when it comes to Warsaw - this was my second time in Warsaw (I do not count the multiple times in which I landed to Chopin Airport - trivia: the airport handles just under 50% of the countrys air passenger traffic in Poland) and my fiancee was here before a couple more times, but only in the city center, Embassy area also ;) So if you do know a better place in Warsaw or you have different opinions please do share!

I am perfectly aware of the variety of places one can wine and dine in Warsaw but we just went to these places by instinct/chance/need :) You will see below why and how ;)


We totally bumped into Charlotte by chance or instinct or the combination of the 2 :) I talked about Charlotte before so you know it is a place I like - and even my lovely fiancee agrees it is a very nice place and he started to love also the amazing creme brulee prepared there :) It is a sight for sore eyes and the taste is always excellent! The crust is just right (I always like to tap it and break it open, like it were ice, with the spoon...) and the cream is so smooooooooooooth and tasty... It simply melts into your mouth and feels like rainbows :)


Arriving at Charlotte at 7 am in the early morning, when they were just opening up was awesome! We were both a bit chilled so my fiancee had coffee and I had some really nice natural tea with lemon :) and of course the additional creme brulee - what?! did you think I would miss the opportunity to have one in Warsaw so I could compare with the one in Krakow?! No way!!! But guess what?! they are the same :) As tasty as I would have imagined :)


What I loved about the tea was the satchel in which the herbs resided. It was a real natural cotton-like satchel and you could see that there was nothing UN-natural about the tea <3

So I am happy to know now the location of Charlotte in Warsaw :) We will definitely be back :) and it is nice to see that one of my fav places in Krakow has a branch in Warsaw - well... actually it was the other way around, I think, but you get the picture! ;p

One place that looked pretty nice though, turned out to be not that special as we would think: Delicja Polska. It is located near the Old City Center - Krakowskie Przedmieście 45. But I do not think I would go there again. We mainly went there because we wanted to stay outside, as it was such a warm and nice day, and my fiancee wanted to smoke. It was one of the few places with ashtrays so we picked it!


True, the place really looks pretty and I loved the table cloth and the arrangements and I also liked the small and colorful pillows places on each and every chair (see below picture).


My fiancee had a coffee (you know, as usual, as he just loves coffee - he is the only one in the house drinking it! I drink coffee only at weddings because I love the taste of it with milk in it...) and I had a fresh squeezed grapefruit juice.


The thing that bothered me was the presentation... I am not saying that the coffee and juice did not taste good or that they were not natural and so on... but for the money payed you would believe that they would make the presentation a bit more fancy...


Either way, we do not recommend that place but we do recommend Charlotte! All the way! :) Anytime!!!
