About the Evolution of Luxury How to be a Fashion Designer
While reading How to Be a Fashion Designer by Marcarena San Martin, I learned a little about the evolution of luxury and how big of a role it is in the world of fashion. "The luxury industry moves more than 10 billion euros ($14 billion) a year"(46). I realized that in the world of fashion, luxury can be divided into 3 time periods, each with a different style (46).
Learning about the world of fashion, you notice that there are many stores, but are they really quality? For example H&Ms slogan is "Fashion and quality at the best price". It may not be as pricey as other luxury stores, but in the third time period of the evolution of luxury, luxury became something that was a trend by the global universe created by the media (46). For example, H&M or Ralph Lauren (46). Years after, many other brands started to create luxury items.
I also learned that in the 18th century, there was a type of luxury that was based on the beauty of the objects and the reputation of the house where they were from (46). This was a very classic type of luxury that needed to be showcased and visible all the time. For example, Hermes.
The last type of luxury was in the beginning of 1920. This was based off of the creator of the brand, for example this would be Coco Chanel. Chanel was, and still is a brand that many purchase just because the innovator was a fashion icon for them.

After reading chapter, I learned about luxury and its origins which really cleared up why people buy what they buy and why they go after luxurious items.
QOTD: Were you aware of why people buy luxurious items before reading this?

The Simple Things in Life
Summer, where every thing is good for just those couple of months, no stress youre care free. As youre driving down the street you hear "an ice cream truck with a tinkling bell and a comets tail of kids" (41).
Theres just something about seeing a group of small children innocent children running, full speed ahead just to get an ice cream cone, something so simple can just bring a big smile to your face.
For you, what is the best part about summer?

The Surprising Ring
Dear friends,
I am going to tell you a short story today :)
Queen Elizabeth I’s secret locket ring. It wasn’t discovered until her death that the ring opened up to reveal two portraits of her and her mother Queen Anne Boleyn.
The secrets of this beautiful locket ring were not discovered until it was removed from Elizabeth I’s finger after she died in 1603. The mother-of-pearl ring with rubies in the band and diamonds on the facade was hiding two miniature enamel portraits, one of Elizabeth herself and the other believed to be her mother, Anne Boleyn, who was beheaded when Elizabeth was just two years old.

Now that is a nice piece of history, is it not?! :)
Cheers my lads and lasses :)
Yours truly, The LadyBug

At 175 millimeters across, the delicate ring is often known as ‘Chequers ring’ and today belongs to the Trustees of Chequers, the prime minister’s country residence. Every once in a while, it goes on display at a special exhibition. The ring tells us that Elizabeth, although she barely knew her mother, thought of her privately and treasured her memory.
408 years after Elizabeth’s death, mother and daughter are still together. Now that is a nice piece of history, is it not?! :)
Cheers my lads and lasses :)

For The Love For Chocolate
Dear friends,
I am not a huge fan of sweets but rather a fan of fruits but since I moved to Poland everything turned topsy turvy. My husband is a huge fan of sweets, just like my sister, and they are the only 2 people I have ever seen capable of eating a whole chocolate at once! And they would be able to continue with a second one, if they would not think it would be unproper... that is how we started to have sweets for almost each end of the daily dinner. Not healthy! I know... But he loves it so much! :) Today I shall tell you about one of the chocolates that he has discovered in his trips in Finland.
Fazer was founded on September 17th 1891 when Karl Fazer (August 16 1866 - October 9 1932) opened his first confectionary on Kluuvikatu in Helsinki where it still stands today. The Fazer family members are still very much involved with the company and they have two main business areas, Fazer Food Services and Fazer Bakeries and Sweets in 8 different countries; Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. All the sweets are made in Finland; Vantaa factory(chocolate), Lappeenranta factory (candy) and Karkkila factory (chewing gum), there is some bakery production in the other countries. Fazer also owns Cloetta and LU, which produce various well-known Finnish cookies.
The Fazer Blue chocolate appeared in 1922. A household name in Finland, known and loved by everyone. Traditional, delicious and simply the best. The Fazer Blue has been chosen as the most valued brand in Finland several years in a row and no wonder. After you try it you know it. The Fazer slogan isnt "Say Fazer when you want something good" in vain. Fazer uses fresh milk when producing this chocolate, which makes it so delicious. The two most sold chocolates in the Blue family are the basic one and my favourite, hazelnut chocolate. Fazer also has a patent for their blue color so no other company can use it. It is simply classic. Like other products, can be found in different flavors and wrappings. In 2013 the wrappings got a new design which makes it an even more elegant gift. This chocolate is a popular souvenir or gift when you go visiting friends.
Geisha original milk chocolate with hazelnut filling (since 1908) is my personal favourite and I remember it as my Mum used to buy it for me and my sister for birthdays when we were a bit older. This is how I came to know Fazer and appreciate the quality of the chocolate. It is truly different than the other types of chocolate and even though Cadbury with its Dairy Milk is my true lover I still appreciate Fazer ;) so I was happy when my husband came with the huge bar of chocolate :p

The LadyBug :)

The Green Side Of Warsaw
Dear friends,
One or the things we truly love about Warsaw is the number of parks this lovely city has. Now you must know that there is a constant hate between people in Krakow and people in Warsaw - somewhat similar to the hate between people in Iasi and people in Bucharest. People in Krakow will say Krakow is cultural - which it is, truly! - or that it has the best Universities in Poland - which it is again true! - and they would say that Warsaw is dull and grey - well I cannot agree on that part, sorry! Warsaw grew on me and my husband slowly and pace by pace but right now it is one of the cities I love and I would not mind spending time in or even live in.

The Embassy of Romania is in Warsaw so for the marriage we had to come and go to Warsaw. As you very well know, this Monday we were there as well. The Embassy is located on the Ulica Fr. Chopina 10 and it is hard to miss due to its Comunistic style. You can reach them with questions via phone or via email. This is their email: embassy@roembassy.com.pl and I promise you they will answer really really really fast! I was very nicely surprised by all the lads/lasses working there. They were prompt and nice and they answer to all of my questions with great patience. The bureaucracy on the other hand was a pain in the arse!!! So many papers, so many translations... It makes you get angry...

While we were waiting for the approval of the marriage from the Ambassador of Romania we had about 4 hours to waste around so we had a short walk - as it was bloody cold, even though the sun was shining bright and actually in the sunlight it was autumnish warm - and we went for a short meal to KFC - bless them for the free internet, that we used most productively in planning our vacation and checking wedding invitations.

After the break we went for the papers but it turned out that the Ambassador had other plans and he was still in a meeting with The Polish Parliament. So the sir at the Consulate asked us to leave the number and he will call back as he was not sure how long it will take. Well... it took him to get there around one hour and 30 min. But that is irrelevant as we finally got him to sign the papers and accept them and we now have a Romanian Marriage Certificate with which I can go in March to do my new ID - yes... in March... not now, as apparently the papers must be sent by the Consulate and approved and processed further on and only at the end of February/beginning of March I could start applying for a new ID as they need to make mentions in the Birth Certificate... and so in March I am looking forward for more paperwork ;)

But during the time we were waiting for the Ambassador to come back we walked around the Embassy neighbourhood - the area is flooded by Embassies of different countries so it is easy to find any as they are all packed up on nearby streets and there are multiple signs to tell you which is which and where is what. Not to mention the guards and the gates and the flags that point out where to go ;)
Right across the Romanian Embassy there is a very small and cute park in which we had a small snack last time we were there. This time we explored further on and at the end of the stree, if you cross the street, you will get to a lovely park we passed multiple times but we did not enter until now. We immediately realised that we must come again when it is all green as it was lovely! Just imagine with all the flowers and the green grass and leaves on trees... oh! Glorious!
But even now, in the middle of winter - that kinda looked like autumn as there was no snow whatsoever... - we agreed that this park is simply magical. The light between the branches of the trees, the water with the trees reflection on it, the small statues, the swans/ducks/pidgeons flight over the lake... We really need to do that again! Soon! And without paperwork on our minds!

So you would not grow blind I will tell you what the above picture states ;)
Ujazdowski Park was laid out in 1893-1896 as a landscape park in place of the fields of Ujazdow village. It was designed by the Chief Municipal Gardener of Warsaw - Franciszek Szanior - the pond was the work of William Heerlein Lindley, the cascade and the canal system that of Alfons Grotkowski. The grand opening of the park was held on 10th August 1896. In July 1965 the park was added to the National Register of Monuments and granted State protection. In 1986 the statue of Ignacy Jan Paderewski was unveiled. It was designed by Michal Kamienski back in 1939. In 2000-2002 Ujazdowski Park was renovated and has been returned to its former glory. There are many special features: unusual species of bushes, a new pergola, the restored cascade, a modern playground and decorative street lamps. There are manyspecimens of rare tree species growing in the park: Gymnocladus canadensis, maidenhair and black walnut trees as well as Schwedler maples.
This small swan mosaic we found in front of the park, in front of the main entrance and both me and my awesome husband agreed it deserves a picture in this blog ;)
Yours truly,
The LadyBug in love with the Warsaw parks :)
